It was only a few days ago that we heard a rumor stating that T-Mobile's G2 would be launching on September 29th, and now that date is all but confirmed. Our friends over at TmoNews have gotten hold of a couple of photos showing that a device named "Vanguard" will be released on Sept. 29th. We've heard the G2 referred to as the Vanguard in the past, and the leaked G2 build we saw earlier today has several wallpapers titled "Vanguard," with the name "Vision" popping up, as well. Every piece of information we've heard has said that the Vanguard/Vision and the G2 are the same device, which means we'll be getting our first HSPA+ handset in just over one month. TmoNews is also reporting that the G2 pre-order may begin around August 31st or September 1st, although this piece of information is most definitely still a rumor at this point.
With these new images, it's looking extremely likely that the G2 will hit before the end of September. Considering T-Mobile was the first carrier out of the gate to offer an Android device, it's great to see them getting back in the game with the Vibrant and now the HSPA+-capable G2. With its rumored 1 GHz processor, 3.7-inch screen, Touch Pro 2-style sliding keyboard, and stock Android 2.2, the G2 looks like it will be a fitting successor to the aging G1. So now that we're a little over a month away from getting our hands on the G2, how many of you are going to pick up the device and take part in the HSPA+ goodness?
