The Internet has been littered with news lately about the new iOS jailbreak, JailbreakMe, and the PDF security hole it exploits to install Cydia. Many users are concerned that now that the public has been made aware of the hole, others will use it to distribute malicious code to unsuspecting iOS users. Apple has finally responded to the news of the breach, and released this statement today:
"We're aware of this reported issue, we have already developed a fix and it will be available to customers in an upcoming software update."
Apple wouldn't say exactly when the software update will be coming, but I would bet that we'll see it sooner rather than later. News of the security breach has been spreading slowly, and the German government actually warned its citizens about the issue today. Apple needs to push out the update quickly before they get even more bad press added to the pile of issues they've experienced in the past month or two. If you wanted to use JailbreakMe to install unapproved software, I'd hit up the site ASAP.
