A new Android TV set-top box has launched, and it's coming from a source that you may not expect: Verizon.
The Verizon Stream TV features Android TV and has a Chromecast built-in. It supports 4K Ultra HD, too, as well as the Google Assistant. There's not much info about the box's specs, but it does have HDMI and Ethernet ports on the back and it includes a remote with a Google Assistant button.
Some of the apps that come preloaded on the Stream TV include YouTube TV, which 9to5Google says comes with a free month of service, and support for Disney+. The Google Play Store also is in there so you can download any other apps you may need, except for Netflix. Verizon says that the Stream TV doesn't support Netflix, but it's unclear why that is.
Verizon is giving the Stream TV to Fios customers for free, and it's also selling the boxes for $69.99 apiece.
The Stream TV could be a decent set-top box, especially for those Verizon Fios customers that get one for free. The lack of Netflix support is kind of strange, but if you're not interested in subscribing to Netflix, Verizon's Stream TV could be worth considering.
