Back at the I/O 2019 event held in May, Google promised it would release an Android Auto for phone screens. This feature comes built-in on Android 10, but it looks like there is an issue with the icon disappearing from the launcher. To answer this issue, Google has come up with a standalone app.
If you’re among those affected by the problem, you can download the new Android Auto app from the Google Play Store. The app looks like it’s working great as a standalone app instead of the original way it was built.
By default, if you are using an Android Auto compatible car with an Android 10 smartphone, you’ll have no problem projecting the car display without the app. But if you are unable to see the icon for Android Auto from launch, you can install the standalone app to help you make the most of its features.
