With less than one week to go before Google's big hardware event, a new report claims that Google is working on a third Pixel 4 phone in addition to the two models that've been leaked extensively so far.
A 5G version of the Pixel 4 is reportedly in "test production", and it could be announced as soon as Google's October 15 event. That's according to sources speaking to Nikkei Asian Review, who say that the 4G Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL are in mass production and will be ready to ship after Google's announcement next week.
Today's report goes on to caution that Google could decide to push the announcement of its 5G Pixel phone until spring 2020 alongside a new budget-focused Pixel handset.
Finally, it's said that this 5G Pixel will be powered by a Snapdragon 855 processor.
With several carriers launching 5G networks and some 5G smartphones already coming to market, it makes sense that Google would be considering a 5G version of its flagship Pixel 4. There's no word on when the 5G Pixel could launch if it is announced next week, and since it's in test production while the 4G Pixels are in mass production, it may not be available at the same time even it is announced on October 15.
