T-Mobile is launching a new tablet this week, and it's got one big feature that's sure to catch the interest of some T-Mo customers.
The Alcatel 3T 8 is now official, and it's launching at T-Mobile on October 12th. Pricing will be set at $6 down and $6 per month for 24 months on an Equipment Installment Plan, or $150 full retail.
One highlight feature of the Alcatel 3T 8 is that it's the first tablet on T-Mobile to support the carrier's 600MHz (Band 71) LTE coverage. T-Mo's 600MHz LTE reaches farther and is better at penetrating buildings than mid-band LTE, and the coverage is now live in more than 1,250 markets. The Alcatel 3T 8's full list of supported LTE bands includes 2, 4, 5, 12,66, and 71.
Other features of the Alcatel 3T 8 include an 8-inch 1280x800 display, 5MP front and rear cameras, 16GB of built-in storage, and a microSD card slot for adding more storage. There's a 1.5GHz quad-core MediaTek MT8765A processor inside the device along with 2GB of RAM and a 4080mAh battery. Rounding things out is a 3.5mm headphone jack, FM radio support, and a microUSB port.
Alcatel has preloaded the 3T 8 with Android 8.1 Oreo and has included a couple of its own special software features, too. The CloserTV app gathers services like Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Video, cable, and satellite TV to make it easier for you to search for and view content in one place. There's also a Kids Mode with a parental controls panel for setting things like usage time limits and which apps your child can access.
So what do you think, T-Mobile customers? Does the Alcatel 3T 8 and its 600MHz LTE support interest you?
