Yesterday we thought that we'd gotten one last big Google Pixel 3 XL leak before the phone is officially revealed next week. Turns out that the rumor mill has another one for us, though.
The Pixel 3 XL has been given the unboxing and hands-on treatment three days before its official reveal. The folks at Engadget managed to purchase a Pixel 3 XL from a shop in Hong Kong, spending HK$15,880 or around US$2,030 for a new, fully-boxed device that definitely looks to be the real thing.
After spending some hands-on time with the Pixel 3 XL, several spec details of the device were revealed. The extra large Pixel phone has a 6.3-inch 2960x1440 OLED display that is said to be improved from the screen on the Pixel 2 XL. You can see it compared to a OnePlus 6 in the image below.
There appears to be a Snapdragon 845 processor inside the Pixel 3 XL along with 4GB of RAM, 128GB of built-in storage, and a 3732mAh battery. There's a single 12.2MP rear camera on the device as well as two 8MP front cameras, one standard and one extra wide angle. On the software side, the Pixel 3 XL is unsurprisingly running Android 9.0 Pie. There are some extra features packed in, too, like an Active Edge feature that lets you squeeze the sides of the device to launch Google Assistant.
Google appears to be including several accessories with its Pixel 3 XL. This particular unit was packed with USB-C earphones, a USB-C-to-3.5mm adapter, a USB-C-to-USB-A adapter, a USB-C cable, and an 18W USB-C wall charger.
We still don't know how much Google is planning to charge for its Pixel 3 XL, but that should be revealed at the event on Tuesday, as it's rumored that pre-orders will open immediately after Google's event is over. Thanks to today's leak and all of the others that've come in recent weeks, anyone interested in the Pixel 3 XL has plenty of time to look over the device and decide if they're going to make Google's new Pixel their next daily driver.
