Heads up, YouTube TV subscribers, because there's some bad news and some good news about your streaming service today.
First up is the bad news: YouTube TV has officially dropped the Tennis Channel. In an email sent to subscribers, YouTube explains that its agreement with the Tennis Channel has expired and that starting November 30 at 11 pm ET, it will no longer be available on YouTube TV. Customers have also lost any recorded content from the Tennis Channel.
Here's the email going out to subscribers:
"We’re writing to let you know that our agreement with the Tennis Channel has expired. Starting November 30, 2020, at 11 pm ET, the Tennis Channel will no longer be made available for distribution on YouTube TV. This means that you will no longer be able to watch that channel live or access any content that you have recorded from the Tennis Channel.
We regret the inconvenience this may cause and thank you for your membership.
Sincerely,
The YouTube TV team"
It's frustrating to lose access to a channel that you've become accustomed to having. And while the Tennis Channel probably isn't the most popular channel on YouTube TV, it is disappointing to see it suddenly go, especially after the service lost some other sports channels a couple of months ago.
There's a bit of good news today to make up for the loss of the Tennis Channel, though, and that's that YouTube TV is gaining a new channel soon. WGN America will be available through YouTube TV starting January 19, 2021, bringing with it shows like NewsNation, Blue Bloods, Murder She Wrote, and Married with Children.
