Stories have become a popular addition to mobile apps, with Twitter the most recent one to add disappearing photos and videos. Now Spotify is testing the feature, too.
Spotify has confirmed that it's testing Instagram-style stories. The feature is appearing on select playlists in the Android and iOS apps, like the Christmas Hits playlist that includes stories from artists on the playlist like Meghan Trainor, Kelly Clarkson, and Jennifer Lopez talking about what something they like about Christmas or their song that's included.

In a statement to Engadget, Spotify confirmed that this feature is currently in testing but didn't say anything else about the feature or its rollout:
"At Spotify, we routinely conduct a number of tests in an effort to improve our user experience. Some of those tests end up paving the path for our broader user experience and others serve only as an important learning. We have no further news to share on future plans at this time."
Stories seems like kind of a strange addition to a music streaming app like Spotify. But we can see how it could be an interesting feature, with artists talking about their songs on the playlist, the inspiration behind them, or other interesting stories that they might not put on their regular social media accounts.
