In addition to wireless charging, the Pixel 5 offers a reverse wireless charging feature that'll let you recharge other Qi-compatible devices. And today Google shared an interesting detail about that feature.
The Pixel 5 automatically turns on its Battery Share reverse wireless charging when its plugged in. As a Google support page explains (via 9to5Google), Battery Share will turn itself off if your Pixel 5 doesn't sense another device using its power.
"When your Pixel phone is plugged in and charging, Battery Share turns on automatically for a short period," Google says. "If your phone doesn’t sense another device using its power during that time, Battery Share turns off."
You can also turn Battery Share on and off manually when your Pixel 5 is not plugged in to power. Just launch the Settings app, tap on "Battery", and then select "Battery Share". You can also add a Battery Share toggle to your Quick Settings menu for faster access.
Automatically turning on Battery Share when the Pixel 5 is a nifty idea from Google. This enables you to easily charge your phone over a wired connection and then drop an accessory, like the Pixel Buds, onto the back of your Pixel 5 and charge them without having to deal with another cable or manually toggle Battery Share on.
