Samsung shows off One UI 3 features ahead of rollout

Samsung Galaxy owners are still waiting for their One UI 3 update to begin rolling out, but today Samsung is giving a preview of what they can expect when their upgrade does finally arrive.

One UI 3 will include Android 11 features like a media control widget in the Quick Settings panel to give you quick access to play/pause, fast forward/rewind, and track skip buttons. We get to see Samsung's Conversations view, too, which is another feature of Android 11 that places your messages into a separate panel in the notifications shade for faster access.

Dynamic Lock Screen is a feature that'll show you a different image on your lock screen every time you unlock your phone. And with One UI 3, Samsung says it'll have an "abundant pool of high-quality images in 10 different categories". The update will bring Dynamic Lock Screen to Galaxy Tab devices, too.

Full-screen AR emoji video calls are coming with One UI 3, too.

Finally, Samsung is including some new features and improvements for foldables in One UI 3. This includes optimizations for the Galaxy Z Fold 2 that'll help apps adjust between the outer and inner displays when you open and close the device. Multi-Active Window is getting improved for better multitasking on the Galaxy Fold, Galaxy Z Fold 2, and Galaxy Tab S7 devices, and the original Galaxy Fold is getting the Dual Preview and Rear Cam Selfie features found on the Galaxy Z Fold 2.

Samsung Malaysia says (via SamMobile) that the One UI 3 update will begin rolling out this month. As with most major updates like this, though, the exact timing will vary between manufacturer and country, so the rollout timing might be different in your part of the globe. Stay tuned and we'll update you with more details on the One UI 3 rollout as they become available.
