Apple today launched the AirPods Pro Service Program for Sound Issues. With it, Apple says it'll fix AirPods Pro that are suffering from crackling sounds or have active noise cancellation that isn't working as expected. Apple will service affected AirPods Pro free of charge.

Affected AirPods Pro units were manufactured before October 2020. AirPods Pro that have these sound issues may exhibit one or more of the following behaviors:

• Crackling or static sounds that increase in loud environments, with exercise or while talking on the phone
• Active Noise Cancellation not working as expected, such as a loss of bass sound, or an increase in background sounds, such as street or airplane noise

If you've got AirPods Pro that have been having these sound problems and were made before October 2020, you can have them serviced by an Apple Authorized Service Provider, make an appointment at an Apple Retail Store, or contact Apple Support. Apple says your AirPods Pro will be examined to verify that they're eligible for this service program.

Other details to know about this AirPods Pro service program is that is covers affected models for two years after the first retail sale of the device. No other AirPods models are part of the program.

These are pretty serious issues for Apple's premium AirPods Pro because they can make it difficult to listen to your audio. Now that this service program has launched, AirPods Pro owners that've been having crackling issues or weak noise cancellation should be able to get a replacement easily.
