We recently learned that the OnePlus 8T will get a 120Hz high refresh rate display, up from 90Hz on the OnePlus 8. Today OnePlus has revealed that that's not the only aspect of the OP8T that's getting faster.
The OnePlus 8T will support 65W fast charging. OnePlus calls this tech Warp Charge 65, and it'll let you recharge the OP8T's 4500mAh battery from 0% to 58% in 15 minutes or all the way full in just 39 minutes.
OnePlus is able to achieve these speeds while keeping the phone cool because the OnePlus 8T uses a dual battery system. This means that both batteries can charge at more than 30W simultaneously, giving you a total fast charging speed of 65W.
In other charging news, the OnePlus 8T will come with a power adapter that has a dual-end USB-C port design. This offers better compatibility and lets you charge at speeds up to 45W for devices other than the OnePlus 8T.
This OnePlus Warp Charge 65 Power Adapter also comes with an encryption chip and 12 temperature sensors, and the OnePlus 8T itself has a new heat dissipation system, all in an effort to keep your charger and OP8T safe while fast charging.
Unfortunately, it's not all good news today for the OnePlus 8T and its charging features. OnePlus CEO Pete Lau has confirmed to PCMag that the OnePlus 8T will not include wireless charging support, a feature that the OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro have.
"Implementing the coil component needed for wireless charging would add to the phone’s thickness, which we feel would impact the overall design and user experience," Lau explained.
The OnePlus 8T will be fully revealed on October 14.
