Qualcomm's lineup of 5G chipsets is growing again today with the introduction of the Snapdragon 750G.
The Snapdragon 750G includes the X52 5G Modem-RF System, which means the chipset supports both millimeter wave (mmWave) and sub-6GHz 5G. Both standalone and non-standalone version of 5G are supported by the 750G, too, as well as dynamic spectrum sharing (DSS).
When it comes to performance, the Snapdragon 750G packs an octa-core Kryo 570 CPU that Qualcomm says offers up to 20 percent faster performance over the Snapdragon 730G that launched last year.
Qualcomm is also touting the Snapdragon 750G's AI features. Those include AI-based echo cancellation and background noise suppression to improve voice chat, always-on voice assistants, and other voice-based features of your phone.
The Snapdragon 750G supports features like 120Hz refresh rate displays, 4K HDR video recording, and biometric security for your fingerprint, face, iris, and voice. There's aptX Adaptive Audio for low latency wireless audio, Bluetooth 5.1 support, Wi-Fi 6 readiness, and NFC support, in there, too.
Devices with the Snapdragon 750G processor are expected to begin launching by the end of 2020.
Qualcomm has been busy expanding its Snapdragon 700-series of mobile chipsets lately, including with the Snapdragon 768G and Snapdragon 732G, and now we've got the Snapdragon 750G as well. All of these chips are meant for mid-range and upper mid-range phones, and this variety will give smartphone makers some options based on how they want to price their device while ensuring it can support features like 5G connectivity.
