Xbox Series X launch accessories detailed, including new blue controller

Tomorrow's the day that Xbox Series X and Series S pre-orders officially get underway, but before then, Microsoft has revealed its lineup of accessories for the new consoles.

First up is the new Xbox Wireless Controller. It'll be sold in Carbon Black and Robot White color options to match the Xbox Series X and Series S, respectively, but it'll also be available in a new Shock Blue color that has a blue front, black hybrid d-pad and ABXY buttons, and a white back case.

The Xbox Wireless Controller will be sold for $59.99, the same price as Microsoft's previous Xbox controller.

Microsoft says that it also plans to offer two bundles for PC gamers who want a new controller. The Xbox Wireless Controller + Wireless Adapter will let you play wirelessly, while the Xbox Wireless Controller + USB-C Cable will give you a physical connection. The Xbox Wireless Controller also includes Bluetooth built-in if your PC supports it.

Also coming is an Xbox Rechargeable Battery + USB-C Cable package. It includes a rechargeable battery for your controller plus a USB-C cable to recharge it, and Microsoft says you can fully refill that battery in less than four hours. This bundle will be sold for $24.99.

Both the new Xbox Wireless Controllers and the Xbox Rechargeable Battery + USB-C Cable will be available for pre-order starting tomorrow, September 22, at 8:00 am in your local time. Those in the US begin at 8:00 am PT. Pre-orders purchased from the Microsoft Store will ship on November 10, the same day that the Xbox Series X and Series S launch.

Finally, Microsoft today gave an update on its Xbox Design Lab, which lets you design your own Xbox controller with different colors, engravings rubberized grips, and metallic accents. This program will be going offline on October 14, but Microsoft says it plans to update the Xbox Design Lab and bring it back sometime in 2021.
