We've heard a lot of rumors say that the iPhone 12 will have a slightly different chassis than the iPhone 11, with Apple expected to give it iPhone 4-style flat sides. Today we may be getting to see that official design for the first time.
An official iPhone 12 Pro chassis has reportedly been shown off on video. A brief clip shared by EverythingApplePro shows an iPhone 12 Pro shell with flat sides and antenna lines at the top and bottom of the sides.
Here it is! Official iPhone 12 Pro chassis leak. Confirms mostly same camera with new LiDAR placement, flat sides, magnet cutouts & smart connector-like 5G antenna? This seems to confirm the 6.1 Pro model will get LiDAR too. October can't come soon enough. pic.twitter.com/YifSX7SWxh

Around back is a camera setup that looks similar to the triple camera array on the iPhone 11 Pro. There is one small change, though, which is that the small microphone hole in the bottom right of the bump on the iPhone 11 Pro is much larger on this iPhone 12 Pro. It's suggested that this is for a LiDAR sensor like the one on the iPad Pro.
Some rumors had said that only the larger iPhone 12 Pro Max would get a LiDAR sensor, but this leaked chassis suggests that the smaller iPhone 12 Pro will get it, too. The LiDAR scanner measures the distance of surrounding objects, and on the iPad Pro its used to help improve the augmented reality experience.
Apple is hosting an event on September 15, but it's expected that the new Apple Watch and iPad Air models will be the stars of that show. Apple will reportedly unveil its new iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro devices at a separate event in October.
