So far we've gotten a couple early peeks at the Galaxy Z Fold 2, but they haven't exactly been of the highest quality. Today the upcoming Samsung foldable has leaked out again, and this time we're getting a much better look at it.
Several official-looking renders of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 have surfaced that show the front and back of the device. In the images from Ishan Agarwal and MySmartPrice, we can see that the outer display is considerably larger than the one on the original Galaxy Fold.
Around back is a triple rear camera setup in a rectangular camera bump similar to the one we've seen on the Note 20 and Note 20 Ultra. Opening the phone up, we see the large main display that's abandoned the notch found on the original Galaxy Fold and instead uses a hole-punch selfie camera that's centered on the right side of the display.
When it comes to specs, the Galaxy Z Fold 2 is expected to include a 6.23-inch outer display and 7.7-inch main foldable screen. Those are both upgrades over the Galaxy Fold, which has a 4.6-inch outer display and 7.3-inch main screen.
The cameras on the Z Fold 2 are said to include 12MP main, 12MP ultra wide, and 64MP telephoto rear cameras plus a 10MP selfie camera on the main display. Also rumored to be included is a 4356mAh battery, which is around the same as the Galaxy Fold, plus 5G support and up to 512GB of internal storage.
This Galaxy Z Fold 2 looks like a significant upgrade over the Galaxy Fold. Not only are the larger screens good to see, but the overall design looks better, too. For example, we're sure that anyone interested in this new foldable will be happy to see the move to a hole-punch selfie camera, which will give them more screen real estate compared to the Galaxy Fold's notch.
One thing that may not change from the Galaxy Fold to the Galaxy Z Fold 2 is the price. Rumors suggest that the new phone could cost $1,980, much like the previous model did at launch. The phone will be officially announced by Samsung on August 5.
Now that we're getting a clear look at the Galaxy Z Fold 2, what do you think of it? Are you interested in Samsung's next foldable?
