OnePlus likes to trickle out details of its new phones in the weeks ahead of their launches, and the OnePlus Nord is no different.
OnePlus today dropped a couple more details on its upcoming affordable smartphone. First up, it's finally confirmed the OnePlus Nord name in the episode of its "New Beginnings" documentary following the development of the device. You can check that out on the official OnePlusLiteZThing account on Instagram.
It's also been confirmed by OnePlus co-founder Pete Lau that the Nord will cost less than $500. "Nord will be our first product below $500 in recent years," Lau teases during the documentary.
One of the main features of the original OnePlus One was its price, with the phone offering flagship-tier features for just $299. The prices of OnePlus phones have crept closer other flagship phones in recent years, though: the OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro start at $699 and $899, respectively.
The OnePlus Nord is the company's answer to long-time fans clamoring for a new, lower-cost device like the older models that got them into OnePlus in the first place. We don't have many other details about the device right now but rumors have said that the Nord could be announced on July 10th, and as we said before, OnePlus likes to drip-feed details about its new phones before their release. So it may not be long before more Nord info comes out.
