As the two main platforms in the mobile world, Android and iOS get compared quite a bit. And this week the two have been pitted against each other again, this time in a battle of voice dictation.
A new video shows an iPhone and a Google Pixel performing voice-to-text which one is better at the task. Bloomberg Beta's James Cham starts voice dictation on both devices and then recites a lengthy statement, and you can see how the two devices perform in the video below.
I don't think that people appreciate how different the voice to text experience on a Pixel is from an iPhone. So here is a little head to head example. The Pixel is so responsive it feels like it is reading my mind! pic.twitter.com/zmxTKxL3LB

The result isn't great for the iPhone, with Apple's device lagging quite a bit behind the spoken words and making a few mistakes along the way. Meanwhile, the Google Pixel largely manages to keep up with each word as its spoken and does so accurately as well.
When you using voice dictation, having the text appear right after you say it can give you the confidence to speak like normal. If your phone isn't able to keep up you might hesitate or speak more slowly, which could get frustrating and cause you to ditch voice-to-text altogether if that's an option. In this case, the Google Pixel is able to keep up with the speaker and works really well as an accessibility feature.
