HBO Max launches today with 7-day free trial in tow

Nearly one year after we first learned about HBO Max, the new streaming service has officially gone live.

HBO Max is now available with a 7-day free trial. After that, pricing is set at $14.99 per month. If you're already signed up for regular HBO through providers like AT&T, AT&T TV, DirecTV, U-Verse TV, Cox, Hulu, Optimum, Spectrum, Suddenlink, and Verizon Fios TV, you get HBO Max free. You'll also get HBO Max at no extra cost if you're sign up for HBO Now.

The service is available on Android phones and tablets, Android TV, iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, Chromecast, PlayStaion 4, Xbox One, PCs and Macs, Chromebooks, and Samsung smart TVs from 2016 and later. The HBO Max for Android app is available here, and you can get the iPhone app here.

The platform itself offers user profiles and features like Continue Watching and My List to help you keep track of your shows. There are parental controls to set limits on what kids can watch, and you can download shows to watch offline when you know you'll be without an internet connection.

When it comes to content, HBO Max offers 10,000 hours of content. That includes the HBO catalog with stuff like Game of Thrones, Veep, Barry, and Westworld. There are movies available like the entire Harry Potter franchise, Joker, A Star is Born, and Crazy Rich Asians, too, as well as The Criterion Collection and films from Studio Ghibli, the latter of which is streaming for the first time in the US.

Other popular shows now available on HBO Max include Friends, Rick and Morty, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, and The Big Bang Theory.

Looking ahead, in its first year HBO Max will add every Batman and Superman theatrical release from the past 40 years plus every DC film from the past decade. It'll also add films like The Matrix and the Lethal Weapon series plus TV shows like Gossip Girl and The West Wing.

So now that it's officially available, are you going to give HBO Max a try?
