Xfinity Mobile has launched 5G.
The Comcast MVNO confirmed today that it's launching new data plans with 5G access included for no extra charge. Customers can choose a "By the Gig" shared data plan with prices of 1GB for $15, 3GB for $30, or 10GB for $60 or an Unlimited plan for $45 per line per month.
These plans are available to both new and existing customers. Existing customers will need to opt in to a 5G data plan, which they can do in the Xfinity Mobile app.
You'll also need a 5G-capable phone to access 5G on Xfinity Mobile. Right now, customers who want 5G can choose either a Galaxy S20+ or Galaxy S20 Ultra, but Xfinity Mobile says that it will add more devices "in the future."
Xfinity Mobile offers 5G service in parts of 34 US cities, including Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Denver, Detroit, Houston, Memphis, Miami, Minneapolis, Spokane, St. Paul, and Washington DC. Because Xfinity Mobile operates on Verizon's network, this is the same mmWave 5G that Verizon uses.
