HTC hasn't been particularly active in the smartphone lately, but a new leak shows that we could see a different kind of new device from HTC soon.
The HTC U Ear is a pair of truly wireless earbuds that look more than a little like a pair of Apple AirPods painted black. Images of the HTC U Ear earbuds were spotted in Taiwan's National Communication Commission (via FCCID.io, Android Police), showing off the earbuds themselves as well as their charging case.
The 'buds themselves have a rounded part that goes into your ear and a long stem that'll stick out from your ear. The charging case has cutouts where you'll lay the HTC U Ear earbuds flat onto pogo pins to charge them, and the case itself will recharge over USB-C.
What we don't know is when or if these HTC U Ear earbuds will launch, where they'll be sold, and how much they'll cost.
It seems like almost every company is trying its hand at making truly wireless earbuds lately, including most major smartphone makers. Now it looks like HTC will be getting in on the action, too, and we're interested to see if HTC might try and help its truly wireless 'buds stand out from the ever-growing crowd of options out there.
