Back in December, Facebook announced a new tool that would enable users to transfer photos and videos from Facebook to Google Photos. After making its way to several countries around the world, that tool is now live in North America, too.
Facebook confirmed today that its photo transfer tool is now available in the US and Canada (via The Verge). To find it, go to your Facebook settings and select the "Your Facebook Information" tab. You'll need to connect your Google account to begin transferring photos between Facebook and Google Photos.
This tool originally launched in Ireland and expanded to Latin America and Asia Pacific countries in back in February. Then in March it went live in more countries in the European Union, the United Kingdom, Latin America, Southeast Asia, and Africa.
Lots of people post photos and videos to Facebook to share with their loved ones, but that may not be a place that some folks want to keep those photos and videos long-term. This new Facebook tool makes it easy to export the images that you've got on your Facebook to Google Photos, where you can store them, search through them, and more.
