Remember S Voice? Samsung launched this personal assistant well before Bixby was a thing, but soon the assistant will be retired.
Samsung will discontinue S Voice on June 1, 2020. That's according to SamMobile, who say that if you try to use S Voice after that date, you'll get a response that says, "I'm unable to process your request. Try again later."
This shutdown will affect several older Galaxy devices that came preloaded with S Voice. Those include the Galaxy S3, S4, S5, and S6 series; the Galaxy A3, A5, A7, A8, and A9; the Galaxy Note 2, 3, 4, and 5; and the Galaxy Note Pro 12.2, Galaxy Tab 4, Galaxy Tab 4 8 and 10.1, and Galaxy Tab S8.4 and S10.5.
You could use S Voice to perform commands like making calls and setting reminders. Samsung stopped preloading S Voice onto its phones when it launched Bixby with the Galaxy S8, though, which was in March 2017, and so it's not a huge surprise to hear that S Voice is being discontinued.
Did you ever use Samsung's S Voice?
