Mark your calendars, OnePlus fans, because the OnePlus 8 series is coming soon.
The OnePlus 8 series will be announced on April 14th. The introduction will be livestreamed starting at 11:00 am EDT/8:00 am PDT.
“With the OnePlus 8 series, we’re excited to introduce our most powerful and beautiful smartphone series ever, combining blazing fast 5G capabilities, specially engineered high refresh rate displays and OnePlus’ signature powerful performance setup," said OnePlus CEO Pete Lau. "The OnePlus 8 series will bring a truly ‘burdenless’ experience to all our users, who have come to expect nothing but the best all-around flagship smartphones from us."
OnePlus' tagline for the announcement is "Lead with Speed", and the company has already confirmed two major features of the OnePlus 8 series. OnePlus says it plans to introduce a "full series of 5G devices," reaffirming the fact that it's now all-in on 5G.
Additionally, OnePlus says it will show off a new screen with a 120Hz refresh rate at the event.
The OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro are rumored include a Snapdragon 865 processor and the Pro model may also have a quad rear camera array with dual 48MP cams, an 8MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom, and a 5MP color filter. The two phones are expected to adopt hole-punch AMOLED displays, with the 8 Pro possibly getting a 6.78-inch screen while the 8 gets a 6.55-inch screen with 90Hz refresh rate.
Also of note is that the OnePlus 8 Pro may include wireless charging and IP68 water and dust resistance, both of which would be firsts for a OnePlus phone.
