After some details on a new iPad feature coming with iOS 14 leaked out earlier today, we're now getting some info on some new watchOS features that Apple is cooking up.
Apple is planning several watch face changes with watchOS 7 and the Apple Watch Series 6. These include three totally new faces, says 9to5Mac, as well as a new feature that'll make it easy to share your watch face setup with other Apple Watch owners.
Also said to be in the works is a new Infograph Pro watch face. Apple already offers Infograph and Infograph Modular faces, and this new face will add a tachymeter. This is a feature available on many analog watch faces around their dials, and it's meant to help you measure speed.
Photo watch faces is rumored to be getting a third source for images later this year. You can already select individual photos and groups of photos from albums for your photo watch face, and now Apple is working to let you add photos from shared albums, too.
One of the major features that Apple Watch owners have been hoping for is the ability to create custom watch faces. Unfortunately, it doesn't sound like Apple is planning to add that feature in watchOS 7, at least there haven't been any rumors to suggest that that's coming. Apple is at least continuing to improve its watch faces and add more options, so Apple Watch owners can tweak their faces and set one up in a way that they feel is best.
Today's report goes on to reaffirm that Apple is adding sleep tracking to the Apple Watch. You'll reportedly be able to set a personalized sleep goal in the Health app on your iPhone, and the app will also give you recommendations for improving your sleep duration and quality.
The update to watchOS 7 is also expected to bring new features focused on kids. For one, Apple is said to be prepping the ability to let a parent set up and manage an Apple Watch for a kid on the parent's iPhone. This would let a parent have an Apple Watch while a kid has their own Apple Watch while also having access to parental controls.
Another new feature rumored to be coming with watchOS7 is called Schooltime. With it, parents can manage which apps and complications can be used on an Apple Watch during certain times, like school hours.
