One of the major new features of the Galaxy S20 series is its 120Hz display, becoming the first Samsung phones to offer a high refresh rate. Some folks aren't happy that enabling 120Hz forces you to use FHD+ resolution rather than QHD+, but Samsung may soon have an answer for them.
Samsung is reportedly working on a way for the Galaxy S20 phones to use 120Hz at QHD+ resolution. According to Max Weinbach, who has been the source of many S20 leaks in the past, this feature could be released "in the next 1-3 months if all goes well."
Samsung is working on optimizing software for WQHD+ 120hz on the S20 series and should release it in the next 1-3 months if all goes well.

Meanwhile, a leaked screenshot from Ice Universe suggests that Samsung is also working on a Dynamic setting for refresh rate that will let the phone automatically switch between 60Hz and 120Hz to conserve battery life.
This is one of the firmware versions of the Galaxy S20 series. We see that not only the WQHD + 120Hz mode can be selected, but also the dynamic mode, which is a very mature solution.better than limited to FHD
let's expect Samsung to implement such a solution as soon as possible. pic.twitter.com/mLtFUwH0WZ— Ice universe (@UniverseIce) February 18, 2020
A high refresh rate has become a trendy feature in smartphones lately, with manufacturers like OnePlus, Google, and others adding them to their new phones. The benefit of a high refresh rate is that animations and scrolling can appear smoother.
It's exciting to see Samsung add the feature to the Galaxy S20 phones, but some folks want to be able to use both the high QHD+ resolution along with the high refresh rate rather than being limited to FHD+ resolution when 120Hz is enabled. It's unclear why Samsung put this limitation in place, but it could be related to concerns over battery life if both 120Hz and QHD+ are enabled.
It would be nice to see Samsung give Galaxy S20 owners the option to enable QHD+ and 120Hz at the same time, so hopefully these rumors become reality soon.
