Last month, rumors claimed that Samsung was working on an AirDrop competitor named Quick Share. Now the feature has been confirmed.
Samsung's Galaxy S20 webpage confirms the existence of Quick Share and the fact that it'll appear first on the S20, S20+, and S20 Ultra (via The Verge). They won't be the only phones to have Quick Share, though, because Samsung does say that it's coming to other devices "soon."
"Share everything with your friends instantly," reads Samsung's description of Quick Share. "See which of your contacts is nearby so you can select and share with up to 5 friends at the same time. No pairing needed."
Apple's AirDrop is a handy feature that lets you quickly beam a photo, video, link, or other piece of content to someone nearby. It works pretty quickly and means you don't have to clutter up your inbox with a picture message or email.
While we haven't yet seen Samsung's Quick Share in action, everything we've heard so far makes it sound similar to AirDrop but even better because you can share with up to five people simultaneously whereas AirDrop limits you to sharing with one person at a time. Hopefully after it launches on the Galaxy S20 series, Samsung brings it to other Galaxy phones quickly.
