Last year, Apple shared some info on how widely adopted its iOS 13 update had been about a month after release. Today those figures have been refreshed.
Apple reports that 77% of all iPhone models launched in the last four years use iOS 13, which is up from 55% at the end of October 2019. Usage of iOS 12 and earlier versions have dropped since October, and they're now sitting at 17% and 6%, respectively.
Meanwhile, of all iPhones that are out there, 70% of them are using iOS 13. That's up from 50% from back in October. Usage of iOS 12 and earlier versions has fallen here, too, sitting at 23% and 7%.
Adoption of iOS 13/iPadOS 13 is up among iPad models, too. Apple says that of all iPad devices launched in the last four years, 79% of them are running iPadOS 13. That number is up from 51% in October 2019.
iPadOS 13 adoption isn't quite nearly as high when you factor in all iPads. That number is sitting at 57%, which is still up from 33% back in October.
The slower growth of iPadOS 13 among all iPads compared to iOS 13 on all iPhones can likely be explained as people keep their iPads much longer than they keep their iPhones, meaning more people are holding on to older iPad models that may not be compatible with iPadOS 13. Still, both iOS 13 and iPadOS 13 showed solid adoption growth over the past few months, and both Apple and developers are happy to see so many users on the latest versions of iOS and iPadOS.
