Google recently promised that the Pixel 4 December update would begin arriving sometime this week, and now it looks like the rollout has begun.
Several Pixel 4 and 4 XL owners are reporting that they've gotten the December 2019 Android security update today. This update began hitting other Pixel phones last week, but Google said that folks with the Pixel 4 and 4 XL would have to wait to get their update.
According to the changelog, this update brings "Face unlock improvements" to the Pixel 4. "When it's on, unlock images are occasionally used to create improved face models," says Google. "This helps recognize you better over time. You can delete the face models at any time in Settings."
Google has also said that the December update includes a fix for a static noise bug in Spotify, dark mode support in the bootloader, a fix for display flicker in various use cases. improved haptics vibration intensity in certain cases, and a fix for pairing issues with Garmin devices, among other improvements.
