Xiaomi teases Mi Watch, shares some specs ahead of November 5th announcement

Xiaomi is no stranger to the wearables market, having launched several popular fitness-focused devices. The company hasn't released a fully-fledged Wear OS smartwatch yet, though. Now we know that that's going to change soon.

A new Xiaomi smartwatch will be announced on November 5th. The company has been teasing it on Chinese social network Weibo, complete with an image that suggests that the watch will have a square screen with rounded corners, similar to the Apple Watch. Meanwhile, 9to5Google found code in the Wear OS app that suggests that the device might be known as the "Mi Watch" and that it could run Wear OS.

After teasing the announcement, Xiaomi has decided to trickle out a few more details about its smartwatch, including sharing images of the device itself. This Mi Watch does have a design that's reminiscent of the Apple Watch, complete with a square display and a large crown on one side. One difference is that the sides of the Xiaomi watch are flat while the Apple Watch sides are rounded.

Xiaomi has confirmed a few of the Mi Watch's features, too. There's a Snapdragon Wear 3100 processor inside the device as well as NFC, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and GPS. Xiaomi is also teasing that its watch will have a haptic motor, a speaker, a large capacity battery, and eSIM support.

Because Xiaomi is one of the biggest Android smartphone makers around, it's pretty big news that the company is planning to launch its first full-on smartwatch. While the specs may not blow you away quite yet, we'll have to wait until the Mi Watch is fully revealed next week before we know everything about it.

What do you think of this Xiaomi Mi Watch based on what we know so far?
