Ahead of the launch of Apple TV+ next week, the Apple TV app has made its way onto another major platform.
Apple TV is now available on Fire TV Stick (2nd Gen), Fire TV Stick 4K, and Fire TV Stick Basic Edition. With it, you can watch your iTunes library, including TV shows and movies you purchase and rent from Apple, though you will have to use an iOS device, Mac, or PC to actually buy or rent something. The app will also support Apple TV+ when the service launches on November 1st.
The Apple TV app is available on the Fire TV Stick (2nd Gen) and Fire TV Stick 4K in the U.S., Canada, U.K., Germany, France, Italy, Spain, and India. Fire TV Stick Basic Edition owners can download the Apple TV app in more than 50 countries.
Amazon also says that the Apple TV app will be coming to more devices soon, including the Fire TV Cube (1st and 2nd Gen), Fire TV (3rd Gen pendant design), Toshiba and Insignia Fire TV Edition smart TVs, and the Nebula sound bar. The app is not compatible with Fire TV (1st and 2nd Gen) and Fire TV Stick (1st Gen).
Apple TV was previously only available on Apple devices, but as the company makes more of a services push and prepares to launch a TV streaming service, it's bringing the Apple TV app to non-Apple devices. The app launched on Roku devices earlier this month and it's also coming to Samsung smart TV as well as LG, Sony, and Vizio platforms.
