ZTE Axon 10 Pro coming to the U.S. with Snapdragon 855, 6.47-inch screen, $550 starting price

ZTE is bringing its latest Android flagship to the U.S.

The ZTE Axon 10 Pro is now available for pre-order from Newegg, B&H Photo, and from ZTE's own online store ahead of its September 6 release. Pricing starts at $549.98 for the model with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, or you can step up to the model with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of built-in storage for $599.98.

ZTE's Axon 10 Pro is sold unlocked and is compatible with AT&T and T-Mobile's networks. It includes support for LTE bands 1/2/3/4/5/7/8/12/13/17/18/19/20/25/26/28/30/34/38/39/40/41/66/71.

One of the highlight features of the ZTE Axon 10 Pro is its screen. The 6.47-inch AMOLED 2340x1080 display features 3D quad curved glass and and a waterdrop notch at the top of the screen where a 20MP selfie camera lives. There's also a fingerprint sensor built into that screen.

Around back is another major feature of ZTE's flagship. The triple rear camera setup includes a 48MP main sensor, a 20MP wide angle cam with a 125-degree field of view, and an 8MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom and Super Night View. ZTE touts that it's included several AI features in the Axon 10 Pro to help you snap photos, including AI Portrait Lighting Adjustment, AI Motion Capture, and AI Scene Recognition.

Inside the ZTE Axon 10 Pro is a Snapdragon 855 processor, a microSD slot that supports cards up to 2TB, and a 4000mAh battery. Qualcomm Quick Charge 4+ support is in there so you can refill that battery in a hurry, as is wireless charging if you'd prefer the convenience of dropping your Axon 10 Pro onto a wireless charging pad. A USB-C port pulls double duty for charging and audio since there's no 3.5mm headphone jack on the Axon 10 Pro, but ZTE does include a 3.5mm to USB-C adapter in the box.

On the software side, the Axon 10 Pro comes preloaded with Android 9 Pie and what ZTE says is "one of the purest executions of Google's Android OS on any smartphone available." The company promises that an update to Android 10 will come before the end of 2019.

The ZTE Axon 10 Pro is the latest in the trend of aggressively priced flagship Android smartphones. We saw a 5G model announced for Europe and China earlier this year, and while the U.S. isn't getting that 5G version, it's great to see this regular ZTE Axon 10 Pro launching stateside and giving consumers more choice when it comes to buying a new Android phone. The Axon 10 Pro has all of the high-end features that you'd expect from an Android flagship in 2019, including a large display with slim bezels, a Snapdragon 855, and multiple rear cameras, and so we're interested in getting it into our hands and seeing how it stacks up to other, pricier Android flagships.
