Later this year, Apple will launch its new Apple Arcade subscription service that'll give iOS users access to more than 100 premium games for one monthly fee. Now a leak has revealed that Google's got a similar service in the works for Android.
Google Play Pass is currently being tested. Several screenshots of the service have leaked out, and Google confirmed to Android Police that it is testing a service called Play Pass.
Images show that Play Pass is priced at $4.99 during the test, but it's unclear if that will be the price when Google launches the service to the public. Signing up for Play Pass will get you access to "hundreds of premium apps and games" without any ads or in-app purchases. Leaked screenshots show Stardew Valley and Marvel Pinball as two titles included with a Play Pass subscription.
"Explore a curated catalog spanning puzzle games to premium music apps and everything in between," reads Google's Play Store page for Play Pass. "From action hits to puzzles and fitness trackers, with Google Play Pass you unlock access to hundreds of premium apps and games without ads, download fees or in-app purchases."
The leaked screenshots also show that a free trial is available with Play Pass, letting you try it out before plunking down $4.99 per month.
It's not known when Google might launch Play Pass to the public or how it might change when the service does go live. Some people don't like to spend money on apps, and Play Pass may not change their mind, but Google's service could be a nice option for folks who find themselves interested in trying premium apps and games but can't or don't want to pay for all of those apps individually.
