There have been a few rumors and leaks lately about a Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 2, but today there's some good news for anyone who's rocking the original model.
Samsung has announced a major Galaxy Watch Active software update. One area that's been improved is Bixby, with the digital assistant now able to start custom exercise routines, find out time differences, control SmartThings smart home devices, play Spotify, and more using their voice. Bixby also learns from your questions and routines so that it can become more helpful over time.
Also included in the update is an improved App Tray UI with a more natural, intuitive format to help you more quickly find the features you want. There's now a dedicated view for Goodnight Mode, too, and when that mode is enabled, you can check the time with a single button press. You can also customize Goodnight Mode's settings and alerts.
New fitness features include a Swimming workout mode for Samsung Health, including the ability to automatically detect swimming activity. The Galaxy Watch Active can also provide an alert when your heart rate drops below a set value for 10 minutes, and the Samsung Health Breath Guide has been improved to offer better breathing rate info and guidance.
Rounding out the Galaxy Watch Active newness are some new watch straps. The Strap Studio collection includes a fitness-focused rubber strap as well as leather and dress collections to give your Galaxy Watch Active a more premium look.f
