The start of a new month means new Android security patches from Google.
Google today released the May 2019 Android security patches for Pixel devices. That means that the Pixel 3, Pixel 3 XL, Pixel 2, Pixel 2 XL, Pixel, and Pixel XL are all receiving Android 9.0-based updates with security patches starting today. The Pixel C tablet is getting an Android 8.1-based update with security patches.
These updates should begin rolling out over the air today, so you ought to see them soon on your Pixel device. Google also offers the updates in the form of factory images or OTA images if you'd prefer to sideload that way.
In addition to releasing the updates, Google has posted an Android Security Bulletin that details the vulnerabilities that it has patched with the updates. The 2019-05-01 security patch level addresses vulnerabilities related to the framework, media framework, and system, while the 2019-05-05 security patch level also fixes vulnerabilities related to kernel components, NVIDIA components, Broadcom components, and Qualcomm components.
Finally, Google notes that Pixels are receiving "many functional updates and improvements to various parts of the Android platform and supported Pixel devices" with this May 2019 update.
