A new Nokia phone is coming to the U.S., giving consumers on the hunt for an affordable smartphone a new option to consider.

The Nokia 4.2 is available for pre-order today from Amazon and Best Buy. Pricing is set at $189, and the phone will begin shipping on May 14th. If you'd prefer a brick-and-mortar buying experience, you'll be able to get the Nokia 4.2 in select Best Buy stores starting June 9th.

This Nokia 4.2 is sold unlocked with support for GSM networks, meaning it'll work with carriers like AT&T, T-Mobile, MetroPCS, and Cricket Wireless in the U.S.

With the Nokia 4.2, HMD Global aims to offer a premium feel in an affordable package with 2.5D glass on both the front and rear. There's a 5.71-inch 1520x720 display on the front with a waterdrop notch that houses an 8MP selfie camera. Around back lives a dual camera setup with a 13MP main sensor and 2MP depth-sensing camera to help you add bokeh to your photos.

Inside there's an octa-core Snapdragon 439 processor, 3GB of RAM, and 32GB of built-in storage. A microSD card slot will let you add more storage if you need it, up to 400GB. There's a 3000mAh battery included, too, as well as a fingerprint reader and face unlock for added security. The Nokia 4.2 comes preloaded with Android 9 Pie and will get monthly security updates.

Rounding things out is a dedicated Google Assistant button, NFC, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.

HMD Global has been doing well with software updates for its Nokia phones, rolling out regular security updates and OS updates. Plus, the Nokia 4.2 is the latest HMD phone to run Android One software, meaning it doesn't come with heavy overlays and customization.
