Are you buying the LG G8 ThinQ?

Back in February, the Life’s Good crew officially unveiled its newest flagship smartphone. The G8 ThinQ isn’t the most revolutionary handset coming to market in 2019, but it’s hard to argue that LG didn’t specifically plan for that to be the case. Let’s not forget that the company has already said it’s waiting to see how foldable phones shake out before it does, or doesn’t, jump into the market. The G8 ThinQ is meant to be “just a smartphone”, even if it doesn’t entirely get rid of the gimmicks.

The question, obviously, is whether or not that will actually end up working for LG.

Can the G8 ThinQ right LG’s ship? Only time will tell. But the Samsung Galaxy S10 is already doing ridiculously well for itself, Huawei is surely going to keep going strong for the foreseeable future, and then there’s always Apple to look forward to later this year. And hey, maybe HTC can come out swinging this year, too.

But LG has to go ahead and give it the old college try, and now we know when, exactly, the G8 ThinQ is going to launch in the United States. If you’re excited about the phone, go ahead and circle April 11 on the calendar. When the day rolls around, the major wireless carriers will welcome the handset, along with retail options like Best Buy. Even U.S. Cellular and Xfinity Mobile will get in on the action.

And priced at under $850, the G8 ThinQ isn’t as expensive as the other options out there. Which is nice! Even if the device does offer an OLED display that can function as a front-facing speaker, and it can even read the veins in your hand! See? The G8 ThinQ has its gimmicks, for better or worse.

So, April 11 is LG’s big day (for the first half of 2019, anyway). So I have to ask now that we know the launch date and all: Are you going to buy this phone? Whether or not the G8 ThinQ was on your radar at all before the company announced it, or after for that matter, is this going to be your next daily driver? Is the front-facing speaker trick enough to pull you in? Let me know!
