After announcing new iPad models on Monday and then updated iMacs on Tuesday, Apple continued it's parade of new products today by revealing new AirPods.
While the new AirPods may look similar to the previous model, there are some important updates to be aware of. Apple has included its new H1 chip in these AirPods, which the company says will help the wireless earbuds to get up to 50 percent more talk time than the original AirPods. The H1 chip will also make it two times faster to switch your connection between an iPhone, Apple Watch, iPad or Mac.
Apple's new AirPods also include "Hey Siri" support. This means that you can now change songs, adjust the volume, make a call, or get directions just by saying "Hey Siri".
Finally, the new AirPods have the option of coming with a wireless charging case. This Qi-compatible wireless charging case will let you set the case on a wireless charging pad rather than plug it in, and it features a green LED indicator on the front of the case to show charging status. The new AirPods wireless charging case will be available standalone for current AirPods users.
The new AirPods will be available on Apple.com and the Apple Store app today and in Apple Stores next week. Pricing will be set at $159 for the AirPods and standard charging case, which is the same price as the original AirPods. You can buy the new AirPods with a wireless charging case for $199, and the wireless charging case on its own costs $79.
