Samsung Galaxy Home smart speaker will launch by April

Samsung hasn't said much about the Galaxy Home since it was first announced last August, but it sounds like the smart speaker is finally almost ready for launch.

The Samsung Galaxy Home will launch by April, Samsung mobile head DJ Koh has told CNET. There's no word yet on what the pricing might be.

Samsung's Galaxy Home is a Bixby-powered device with six speakers that aim to offer surround sound-style audio. You can use Bixby to control playback and volume, and eight far-field microphones will help to ensure that Samsung's assistant hears you. The Galaxy Home can also sync with your smart home devices thanks to its built-in SmartThings hub.

While we still don't know how much the Galaxy Home might cost, we expect that the fabric-covered device will be priced more like Apple's $349 HomePod than Amazon's $99.99 Echo. The device's design, sound tuning by AKG, and other features make it look like Samsung is positioning it as more of a premium speaker.
