Along with cameras, RAM is one feature where Android device makers regularly one-up each other. And today Lenovo one-upped all the recent phones with 10GB of RAM by announcing a model with 12GB.
The Lenovo Z5 Pro GT is now official with up to 12GB of RAM, which is the most we've ever seen in a smartphone. That's not the only high-end feature that the Z5 Pro GT has to offer, though, as it's also packing Qualcomm's brand new Snapdragon 855 processor.
Another notable feature of the Lenovo Z5 Pro GT is its slider design. Just slide the screen down and you'll be greeted by a 16MP main camera and an 8MP infrared camera. Speaking of the screen, the Z5 Pro GT is packing a 6.39-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 2340x1080, a 19.5:9 aspect ratio, and a fingerprint reader built into the screen.
Around back there's a carbon fiber pattern along with a dual rear camera setup that includes 16MP and 24MP snappers. Inside the Lenovo Z5 Pro GT is up to 512GB of storage, NFC, dual SIM slots, and a 3350mAh battery. It comes preloaded with Android Oreo.
The Lenovo Z5 Pro GT will launch in China next month. Pricing starts at 2,698 yuan ($391 USD) for the model with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, while the top-end model with 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage will set you back 4,398 yuan ($638 USD).
With 12GB of RAM, a Snapdragon 855, and a large AMOLED screen, the Lenovo Z5 Pro GT is definitely an attractive phone for spec hounds, and the slim bezels with slider design means it doesn't look to shabby, either. It's unlikely we'll ever see the Z5 Pro GT stateside, but since device makers like to one-up each other when it comes to RAM, I'm sure that we'll eventually see a phone with 12GB of RAM hit U.S. shelves.
Lenovo today also introduced the Z5s, which is more of a mid-range device with a Snapdragon 710 processor, 4/6GB of RAM, 64/128GB of storage, and a microSD card slot. There's a rear fingerprint reader, too, along with a 6.3-inch 2340x1080 display with a waterdrop notch.
The back of the Lenovo Z5s is home to a triple camera setup that includes 16MP, 8MP, and 5MP snappers, while the front has a 16MP camera that supports face unlock. Lenovo has also included a 3300mAh battery, dual SIM slots (one of which doubles as the microSD slot), a 3.5mm headphone jack, and a USB-C port. Android Pie is preloaded on the Z5s.
The Lenovo Z5s is available for pre-order in China, with pricing starting at 1,398 yuan ($203 USD) for the 4GB/64GB model.
