Android 9 Pie is now making its way to another device.
HMD Global today confirmed that it's pushing an Android 9 Pie update to the Nokia 7 Plus. The rollout will be phased to ensure that everything works smoothly, and only the first 10 percent of the install base will get the update initially, so that means that it may take some time for the update to hit your device. The update will hit open markets first, followed up operators that require an update approval process.
The update to Android 9 Pie is a big one, bringing with it many new features. A new gesture-based navigation system aims to help you move around Android more naturally, and Adaptive Battery learns the apps that you use most and prioritizes the battery for them. Other notable new features of Android 9 Pie include a refreshed Quick Settings menu, better notification management, and a bettery way to take screenshots.
There aren't many devices outside of Google's Pixel phones that have been updated to Android 9 Pie, so this update for the Nokia 7 Plus is notable. HMD Global has been pretty good about getting Android OS and security updates to its devices in a timely manner, and that trend continues with this update for the Nokia 7 Plus.
