A rumor this week suggested that Amazon may be planning to launch eight new Alexa-powered devices by the end of 2018, and today we may be geting an early look at two of them.
New Echo Sub and Amazon Smart Plug devices have been spotted on Amazon. First up, the Echo Sub is described as offering "down-firing, 100W deep bass sound through a 6" woofer". You can pair one with an Echo or Echo Plus to add some bass to your music, or pair with two of the same compatible Echo device to give you stereo sound.
The Echo Sub is listed with a price of £75.00, which is around $99 USD. That doesn't seem too bad for a subwoofer that can give you better sound when listening to music on your Echo device.
Also leaked today is the Amazon Smart Plug. This accessory works with Amazon's Alexa assistant to add voice controls to any electrical socket, letting you do things like schedule lights or a coffee machine and remotely control your appliances when you're away. Amazon's listing also notes that there's no smart home hub required with this device.
The Amazon Smart Plug is listed with a price of £75.00, or around $125 USD, which seems a bit high for a device like this. Considering that this product went live on Amazon's site before it was meant to, that price is almost certainly an error.
Both the Echo Sub and Amazon Smart Plug were listed with launch dates of October 11th, so it shouldn't be long before they're both given a proper introduction by Amazon. Stay tuned.
