Remember the "Recommended For You" section that Instagram tested last year that'd show you posts from accounts you don't follow? A similar trial is starting up now.
Instagram today announced that it's testing recommended posts in users' feeds. These posts will appear in a "Recommended For You" section at the end of your feed, when you've seen everything new from the people you follow. At that point, you'll be able to press a button to see older posts from the people that you follow or keep scrolling for recommended posts.
The posts in your "Recommended For You" section are based on the people you follow and the photos and videos you like. The feature will roll out over the next few days. Instagram says that it'll make tweaks based on your feedback and that it hopes to expand the test to more people in the coming weeks.
With this feature, Instagram is hoping to keep you in its app longer and to help you find new accounts to follow. The good news is that if you're not interested in seeing posts from accounts that you don't already follow, you can tap the "View Past Posts" button to see older posts rather than recommended ones.
