When HTC introduced the U12+ earlier this year, it said the new flagship would be sold in three colors: Ceramic Black, Translucent Blue, and Flame Red. Those of us in the U.S. have only had access to the Ceramic Black and Translucent Blue versions to date, but that's now changing.
HTC is now taking pre-orders for the Flame Red version of the U12+ in the U.S. The red phone is being sold unlocked and come with 64GB of built-in storage, though there is a microSD card slot if you'd like to add more storage. The unlocked version of the HTC U12+ is compatible with AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon in the U.S.
Pricing for this Flame Red HTC U12+ is set at $799, and orders will begin shipping in September.
As a refresher, the HTC U12+ is a flagship-tier device with a 6-inch 2880x1440 Super LCD 6 Screen and a four cameras. The dual rear camera setup includes a main 12MP wide angle sensor with f/1.75 aperture and optical image stabilization, as well as a 16MP camera with 2x optical zoom. Around front there are two 8MP wide angle cameras.
Inside the U12+ is a Snapdragon 845 processor, 6GB of RAM, and a 3500mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0 support. HTC has included what it says are its loudest ever BoomSound speakers with the U12+, and the whole body is IP68 water and dust resistant. The HTC U12+ also includes a rear fingerprint reader and face unlock for added security.
HTC has added some of its own special tweaks to the U12+, like Edge Sense 2 to let you squeeze the sides of the phone to perform actions like launching apps. On the sides of the HTC U12+ are its pressure-sensitive buttons which HTC recently improved with a software update.
