Google alerting Android users that Fortnite isn't on the Play Store

By now, lots of people know that Fortnite for Android won't be available on the Play Store. Not everyone is aware of Epic Games' decision to offer Fortnite directly to Android users, though, and so Google is working to make sure that users don't download fakes.

When you search for Fortnite on the Play Store, Google displays a message that says "Fortnite Battle Royale by Epic Games, Inc is not available on Google Play". The search also turns up another Epic game, Battle Breakers, as well as recommendations for PUBG Mobile and Creative Destruction.

This is a smart move by Google. Many Android users rely on the Play Store for to get all of their apps, and some of these people may not know that Fortnite isn't on the Play Store or even that they can download apps outside of the Play Store. There are some malicious parties out there that may try to take advantage of this to offer fake Fortnite apps to get ad money or worse. And while Google is pointing users who search for Fortnite to Epic's website to download the game, it is at least informing them that the game isn't on the Play Store so that they can go learn more about the situation.

Have you downloaded Fortnite for Android? If so, how was the experience of getting the game directly from Epic?
