YouTube is one of the most popular smartphone apps around, and it's available across mobile platforms. This week, though, YouTube has come out with a new Signature Device program to let you know which devices are best for watching YouTube on the go.
The list of YouTube Signature devices includes lots of flagship smartphones, such as the new Samsung Galaxy Note 9, the HTC U12+, the OnePlus 6, and the LG G7 ThinQ. Interestingly, there are no Apple devices present.
To qualify as a YouTube Signature Device, a phone needs to support high dynamic range, high frame rate, reliable DRM performance, 4K decoding, and next generation video codecs. Here's the full list of phones that qualify as a YouTube Signature Device:
While you can still watch YouTube videos just fine on phones that aren't included in this list, it's probably a nice little perk if you've got a phone that is included and you like to watch a lot of YouTube. Is your phone a YouTube Signature Device?
