We've seen quite a few 2018 iPhone leaks lately, but today we're changing things up with an iPad leak.
Icons found inside iOS 12 beta 5 hint that Apple may give the iPad a new design this year. The image is part of the battery usage UI and appears to show an iPad with slimmer bezels and no home button. All four bezels appear to be the same thickness, and there's no notch to be found here.
As noted by 9to5Mac, this icon specifically mentions "iPad". Also of note is that it's new in the iOS 12 beta 5 release and that there are no references in the system yet, which suggests that this is an all-new product.
Meanwhile, code in the AccessibilitySettings seems to suggest that Face ID will be included with Apple's new iPad Pro models.
Rumors have hinted that a new iPad design was coming soon, and today's leak seems to add support to those reports. An updated design with thinner bezels would be great to see, as Apple has been using its current iPad design for awhile now and could stand to make those top and bottom bezels thinner, which can then make the product a bit smaller. Rumors have also suggested that Apple could add a notch to the iPad to make it more like the iPhone X, and while iOS 12 and its left- and right-aligned status bar would seem to support that, today's leak hints that that may not be the case after all.
What design changes would you like to see Apple make to the iPad?
