It's time once again for another iOS 12 beta.
Apple today released iOS 12 beta 3 to developers. The update doesn't appear to be live to public beta testers quite yet, so you folkds in the Apple Beta Software Program will have to wait a bit longer to get this update.
iOS 12 adds many new features to Apple's mobile operating system. There are four new Animoji — a tiger, a ghost, a koala, and a dinosaur — as well as a Memoji feature that'll let you create your own Animoji. Grouped notifications will help you clean up your lock screen by gathering alerts by app or type, while Do Not Disturb during Bedtime will dim your screen and block notifications from appearing while you're trying to rest. There are also new digital wellness features to help you understand how you use your phone and set limits if you'd like.
We recently learned that Apple is giving Maps an overhaul and that it'll first appear in this iOS 12 beta. The new Apple Maps is being rebuilt from the ground up with Apple's own data and will show additional detail with more grass, trees, parking lots, and pedestrian pathways. Apple plans to roll out the new Maps in San Francisco and the Bay Area with the iOS 12 beta followed by coverage for Northern California this fall and expanding to the rest of the country afterward.
iOS 12 will be released to the public this fall.
