To date, we've seen Android Go phones from companies like Nokia, ZTE, and Alcatel, and now rumors say that another major mobile device maker is prepping an Android Go handset.

Samsung is currently testing its first Android Go smartphone, says a report from SamMobile. The company began testing a device with the model number SM-J260 in four Indian countries last month, according to this report, and it's now trialing that device in several other parts of the globe.

It's rumored that the SM-J260F is being tested in European countries like the U.K., Germany, Italy, France, and Ukraine, while SM-J260M is in testing in South American countries like Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, and Peru. Finally, the SMJ260G is being testing in countries such as Cambodia, Thailand, Singapore, Malayasia, and Vietnam.

There's no word yet on what kind of specs Samsung's Android Go smartphone might offer. Because the purpose of Android Go is to offer a smooth user experience on entry-level smartphones, though, and so it's likely that Samsung's device will offer lower-end specs.

While still unconfirmed, it'd be great to see Samsung launch an Android Go phone. Samsung is one of the biggest phone makers on the planet, and there would likely be some interest in a lower cost Samsung phone with the lightweight Android Go user interface. Now we just have to wait and see if this rumored device becomes a reality.
